There he was responsible for the reopening, retrofitting, and operation of Iraqi ports to handle reconstruction cargo.
Dr. Wakeman has extensive experience in navigation, port development, security, and freight transportation planning. In 2008 he was named the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) New Jersey Educator of the Year. Because of long term service to the international navigation association (PIANC), he was award Fellow status by the US Section in 2009. In 2010, he was named a Distinguished Diplomate in both Port Engineering and Navigation Engineering by COPRI. His profession affiliations besides ASCE and PIANC include the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wakeman has a MS in Civil Engineering from University of California, Davis, MA in Marine Biology from San Francisco State University, and a doctorate of Engineering-Science from Columbia University, New York.

Dr Bandeira has over 40 years of experience in the fields of Coastal and River Engineering, Surface and Groundwater Hydrology, using tracer and correlated techniques including sediment transport studies; coastal morphology, embracing evaluation and possible remediation of erosion and accretion cases due to natural and man-made causes; optimisation of dredging works and studies of its physical environmental impacts; and studies for the discharge of industrial and domestic effluents and refrigeration water of thermal plants. He has been a member of the Brazilian Water Resources Association (ABRH) since 1979; was the founder of the Technical Committees on Coastal and Sediment Engineering of ABRH; expert of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) since 1988; member of the advisory council of the permanent secretariat of COPEDEC (1990-2003); and member of the PIANC acting in its Co-operation Commission CoCom (2003 to present).
Professor Charitha Pattiaratchi
Winthrop Professor of Coastal Oceanography, Head, School of Environmental Systems Engineering Australian National Facility for Ocean Gliders, School of Environmental Systems Engineering & UWA Oceans Institute
Professor Charitha Pattiaratchi holds Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees from the University of Wales, UK. He has been at the University of Western Australia for over 20 years and currently holds the positions of Winthrop Professor of Coastal Oceanography and Head of the School of Environmental Systems Engineering. Prof. Pattiaratchi has supervised over 30 PhD students and 100 honours students and has published over 300 articles/ reports on coastal oceanography, which include over 100 in peer-reviewed international journals.
